Looks like the rain might hold off so we're heading down for the Soapbox Race soon. Come join us!!

I'm in love...
...with my new purple shoes.
They're Nine West. I love Nine West shoes. These were on sale too! Did you notice the colorful print on my dress? My sister made it. Yes, my lovely, talented Sister J made this beautiful dress for me. She's amazingly crafty. Here's a better view. Please disregard my awful pose. I'm no model.
It twirls really nicely too and that's half the fun. :)

New Restaurant in Decatur
"Combining the tastes of Spain with a fresh, eclectic, American social atmostphere".
The Iberian Pig is coming to 121 Sycamore St. (on the Decatur Square). Should be opening up later this summer. What is later this summer? Summer lasts awhile in GA. September? October? The menu looks pretty interesting. Not a whole lot of vegetarian options for us here at Squirrel and Fox, but enough for us to try it and see how it is. (J Fox can compare once she gets back from her Spain trip in a few weeks.)
Meat eaters - who's going to try the BBQ Octopus?? Ewww....Check out the rest of the menu here.
See you later alligators,

Plans for Tonight?
Come out to the Atlanta Water Gardens for the celebration of local pianist George Skaroulis' latest album, Imagine. The celebration is also a benefit for the Atlanta Humane Society of which George is the official musician.
The event starts at 5pm (yes, the 5pm that is in 18 minutes) and goes until 8pm. Free entry, wine and hors d'oeuvres, silent auction and live auction with 20% of cd sale proceeds benefitting the Atlanta Humane Society.
George is a great musician and you won't be disappointed with the evening. Check out more info here. There is also a link to the AJC article that appeared in the paper recently so check that out as well.
Sorry for the late notice, hope to see you there!

Soapbox Race
August 29th at Piedmont Park. You've probably seen signs for it, but if you haven't you can check it out here. We'll be heading down with some friends and hope to see you all there!
The pit opens at 11:00, opening ceremonies at 12:45, and the first race is at 1:00.
In the meantime check out these pictures from past races.
This looks like it's going to be quite the event!! You might even want to get there a little early so you can get a good viewing spot...past races seem to have drawn quite the crowd.
See you there!

We LoveYu
Great designer fabrics + animal shaped homemade patterns + local talent + super cute "bios" for each handmade critter = LoveYu Critters.
We were introduced to these plush friends recently and could not help but fall in love (and purchase a few for ourselves!)
Local Atlanta artist, Wren, creates personalities for each of her creations and each critter has its own unique "birth date" and one-of-a-kind, handmade, slightly imperfect, yet irresistible shape. We couldn't resist scooping up one of her kitties, "Esme", as this particular plushie matches J Fox's living room all too perfectly, and doesn't mind being left alone for hours on end but stays quite satisfied on the sofa :)
J Squirrel chose, quite fittingly, a squirrel, named "Dale" for her new friend. She's tried to offer him some nuts apparently but so far he's been just perfectly happy hanging out on the bed without demanding a thing... talk about our kind of pet!
Make sure to visit Wren's zoo and consider adopting one of her lovely critters!
Until next time,
J Fox

More Lovely Flowers
So I've posted on hair flowers before, but I've found more! Guys, men, boys- I'm sorry. You can skip reading this post if you need to or maybe you can think of it as a potential present/idea for the ladies in your life. :)
I love how small and dainty they are.
These first hair flowers are from WREN Handmade on Etsy. Her description says 2 inch flower bobby pins, but I think the 2 inch part refers to the bobby pin, not the flower. The flower seems to be about half an inch long.
I love how small and dainty they are.
I love how the colors and prints compliment each other so well.
Photos courtesy of WREN Handmade.

I can see these tucked into messy buns and ponytails as a little trio or used by themselves. I'd dress them down or up depending on the event as well. I might even be buying some tonight....
The next flowers are over-the-top awesome!! Large, simple, and statement-making, these flowers are the perfect accessory to take any outfit over the top. Check out Emersonmade for the full assortment, but here are some of my favorites.
Back again soon,
J Squirrel

New Favorite on Etsy
We stumbled across this seller, Majestyinc, the other day while surfing through Etsy. Check out the fun keychains and pouches they have. Everything's made from vegan vinyl which we totally support as vegetarians and animal lovers. These were some of our favorite items:
Love, love, love the mustaches!! So cool...for guys or girls. The prices are super affordable as well. We're consistently amazed at all the cool stuff out there on Etsy. Our shopping carts are full of stuff that we want...one day we'll be able to afford all of it. Let us know if you find anything worth sharing on Etsy. :)
Until next time,
J & J

10 things we love about...
...a free movie!!!
What free movie you say? Paper Heart at the Landmark theater in Midtown. Now for the list:
1. Free = $0
2. Entertainment for an otherwise boring Wednesday evening
3. Driving past The Chocolate Bar and learning that Wednesday is Ladies Night ($5 martinis!!!)
4. Sneaking in coconut almond chocolate clusters from Trader Joe's
5. Being on the "press list" and having reserved seating for an otherwise packed theater
6. Meeting Matt from Overture Films who was nice enough to invite us (thanks for being a loyal reader Matt!)
7. Watching the people in front of us pull out homemade sandwiches, popcorn, and juice boxes that they snuck into the movie. The only thing missing was the picnic basket
8. The movie's creative puppet shows
9. The awkward chemistry between Michael Cera and Charlyne Yi
10. Date night with my roommate. Love her. :)
Ok...a few more.
11. They have a MASH game on the website for the movie!!! This used to fill hours and hours of class time all through middle and high school. Sweet!!
12. The soundtrack which should be pretty awesome.
13. The movie. We enjoyed it. It's good! Cute, sweet, awkward, funny, relatable, and guys you probably enjoy it as well.
Thanks to J roommate for the help on the post and once again thanks to Matt for the invite.
Go see Paper Heart!!

Great Finds
In case you didn't get a chance to make it out to the Warehouse Sale in Decatur last weekend...you missed out!
I really enjoy warehouse sales...do you? It's like going to TJ Maxx or Marshalls in case you've never been. You kind of have to be the type of person who enjoys combing through racks and racks of stuff to find that one perfect blouse/tank/pair of jeans/shoes/etc. I once found a pair of Citizens of Humanity brown curdouroys for $10. Yes, you read that right...$10! Nothing wrong with them either! Well, this weekend I found some great steals as well. First thing I found was this cute LeSport Sac wallet that I got from Squash Blossom. Only $16! What a steal! I have a special place in my heart for LeSport Sac and it's really hard for me to pass up anything from them. I saw this wallet in Squash Blossom a few weeks before and was beyond delighted that they had it at the warehouse sale. The designs LeSport Sac comes up with are just great! I love the color and the quirkiness of their pieces. :) Do you recognize the ring on my finger? Perhaps this post will tell you a little more. ;)
Unfortunately I don't have pictures for the other items I found, but one friend is getting an early Christmas/birthday present in the form of a teal, leather, Hobo wallet (also from Squash Blossom for a ridiculously good price) and I got a cute black/white/gray striped tank top from Boogaloos. (Go stop by Boogaloos if you haven't before. The girls that work there are so sweet and they always have awesome window displays.)
Have a lovely weekend. J Fox has probably just landed in San Diego and I'm headed to Independence, Missouri tomorrow.

Paper Heart
Thanks to a lovely invite from Matt at Overture Films I'm headed out for a fun movie screening tomorrow night with my lovely roommate. J Fox decided she wanted to head to California instead of going to see a movie with me. How rude! (I'm channeling my inner Stephanie Tanner).
Check out the trailer for Paper Heart here.
I'll let you know what I think of it. I'm expecting good things and am sure that Michael Cera and Charlyne Yi will deliver.
Until we meet again,
J Squirrel

Jane Jenni Buttons
Have you heard of Jane Jenni before? She does an super cute kid (and adult) friendly line of melamine plates and cups, buttons, magnets, mugs, lunchbags, and some other fun things. We got some new buttons in the other day and we had to show you guys some of our favorites.
Can you guess what they all are?
The new ones, to us at least, are cool beans, penny pincher, starving artist, talk turkey, peace loving, and smarty pants. It's interesting to see the variation in the button art work. Some buttons are super detailed (ex. penny pincher, starving artist) while others are quite simple (ex. cool cucumber, top banana). We love the buttons below because of the wonderful bird images on them.
And last but not least, our favorites modeled on the lovely J Fox.
Hehe. Isn't the squirrel so cute?! He's so fat and chunky. And boy does that fox look sly...I bet he's up to no good.
Happy Hump Evening,
J & J

Super H Mart
Thank you Piewacket!! Without your post we never would have heard about the wonderfulness that is the Super H Mart. Two hours after reading your post we took a little field trip outside the perimeter to explore Super H Mart for ourselves.
We spent over an hour wandering the aisles, marveling at all the interesting things we saw. The produce section was amazing, super fresh food and lots of things we'd never seen before, like doughnut peaches. The bakery section has lots of great breads and pastries. We tried a cheese danish, a cookie/pastry with pumpkin pure, and a lemon pound cake. (The danish and pound cake were good, the cookie with pumpkin....not so good.)
Next thing we ran across was a whole aisle dedicated to any and every type of instant noodle dinners. I wonder what Chapagetti tastes like?? Spaghetti maybe? :)
Isn't the little cartoon guy on the Cham-pong cute. :) We really loved all the colorful packaging. Here are some more pictures of things we found around the store.
We couldn't escape without also getting some fun little snacks. Panda cookies with vanilla cream, 5 little boxes of various shaped gum(super sweet at first, but the flavor goes away after about 10 chews), and tastiest of all...Choco Banan Pocky! Cookie sticks dipped in banana cream(?) and drizzled with chocolate. Mmmm. :)
Make sure you also check out the home goods section that's almost hiding in the far left corner. They have some cute little bento boxes, great ceramic dishes, rice cookers, and some funky kitchen accessories.
Also, check out Piewacket. It's a great blog for local people to check out and she takes amazing photos.
Until next time,
